Tiger is back! Memorial Tournament Preview

Two of the most anticipated PGA Tour events are Bay Hill and The Memorial. Reason being, they are Jack and Arnold’s events. Everyone is playing for the opportunity to support the two most iconic players in Golf. This week, we head to Dublin, Ohio for The Memorial! Let’s dive in.

Tiger is back this week! Jack Nicklaus had some awesome words to say about it him in his opening press conference:

“He came back, he worked hard to get himself back in shape to be able to play. He had to figure out what he had between the five inches between his ears. He had to get that solved to believe that he could do what he did. He had won The Tour Championship the year before. But that’s still only 30 players. He’s not beating a huge field. Played very well to win that. But still not the Masters or the U.S. Open. And he just had to believe it. And he did a very nice job of that. I was very proud of him. And he just played the way a champion should play. You’ve had as many operations as he’s had, he may be solid enough that it’s all right. And if he is, I think he probably will break my record.”

Thank God. I’ve said it before but we saw what happened after 4 months of zero golf. He has won this tournament 5 times! I think this is an awesome event for him to go out and compete in to help get him ready for the US Open. Even though he played like shit at the PGA Championship, he is definitely still a favorite this week. Check out our DFS blog for odds.

Justin Thomas returns from a sprained wrist injury. It’s good to have him back.

Kevin Na earned his 3rd career win at the Charles Swchabb Challenge. As one of the more consistent players on tour, he has broken into winning circle. I must say, I’m a huge Kevin Na fan. His golf game has been in a very dark place before and it’s awesome to see him battle back.

The Field

The absolute all-star field this week at the Memorial. Tiger Woods, JT, Rory, Jordan Spieth, Rickie, Mickelson, Rose, Finau, and the list goes on and on.. Basically a major championship minus course conditions and ambiance.

Winner: Justin Rose. If there is one course that Muirfield, Village reminds me off, it’s Merion. Justin Rose won the US Open at Merion back in 2013 and I think his game will set up very well for this golf course.

Winning Score: -13

Dark Horse: Charley Hoffman
