Wells Fargo Championship – Preview

We are back at it for the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina. Big field this week as of the star players are returning to battle it out a Quail Hollow Country Club. Unfortunately, Tiger Woods declined his invitation for this week. In my eyes, this was expected from Tiger. He’s only in it for the big time events and we will see this reflected in his new schedule. PGA Championship, US Open, British Open, Memorial, and one or two WGC’s and he’s done. Let’s beat Jack’s record then retire.

My favorite memory here did not come from Wells Fargo Championship, however, watching JT’s PGA Championship was awesome.

Two other moments that stick out at Quail:

Rory gained his FIRST PGA tour Win:

And when Rick had flow…. and also won his first PGA Tour win

The Feild

This week always pulls a fantastic field. As I mentioned, we will not see Tiger but others include Rory, Rickie, JT, Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose, and Tony Fianu. One notable mention in the field this week is Smylie Kauffman. I’m dying for this guy to start playing well again. I feel bad. His boys are tearing it up and he’s been on the sideline the past couple years. Time to get it in gear Smylie!

Winner: Webb Simpson. This is Webb’s home golf course. If any of you belong to a country club, you know the advantage of playing at your home course.

Dark Horse: I have three to look out for. Bud Cauley, Harold Varner III, Daniel Berger. It’s only a matter of time before one of them wins

Score: -15. This is a hard golf course but it won’t play PGA Championship hard.

Final Thoughts:

I am still thinking about how awesome the Master was. The worst/best part about that day is that currently, I’m in a major championship rut. It doesn’t matter what PGA tour event is going on, I will never have the excitement I had for Augusta. It was the second best sports moments of my LIFE and now regular tournaments will not live up to it. We were spoiled, simply spoiled golf fans. God Bless, Tiger Woods
