The Arnold Palmer Invitational

From West Palm Beach, we head East to Bay Hill Country Club. This week we are celebrating the ABSOLUTE GOAT Arnold Palmer.

There certainly will be a lot of emotions around the loss of Arnold Palmer, however, this is also a huge celebration of the life Arnold Palmer lived. He was an iconic figure that revolutionized corporate America and golf. Every pro-am/company sponsor is because of Arnold Palmer’s vision. Arnold was the only man who could walk into a cocktail happy hour and leave being everyone’s best friend. He was one of a kind and will never be forgotten. Let’s dive into the tournament this week:

Last year, Rory stole the show with a very solid win. He birdied 5 of the last 6 holes to win it on the 18th.

In 2017, Marc Leishman won.

If we go WAY WAY WAY back to 2009, we saw Tiger win the APIV on a heroic birdie on 18.

The Course

The first 18 holes at Bay Hill (Champion / Challenger nines) were designed by Dick Wilson in 1961 and was built by Bob Simmons.

Probably the most notable hole on the golf course is the par 5 6th hole. Stretching 555 yards, there are three aggressive tees that they can play from. Majority of the longer hitters will take it right over the water and have a good shot at hitting it in 2. AKA BUBBA

The Field:

Let’s start by covering the Tiger WD. Listen, I am not sure what to believe hear. Of course, I hope everything is okay and this is just precaution but you just don’t know. What we do know is that this has been bothering him for a few weeks. That’s not good I do think it’s a smart idea to sit this one out. All we want is majors baby and if this move will ensure he is 100% for Players and upcoming Masters then I support it.

Out of pure respect for The King, this tournament always draws a big field. Coming off a big finish at the Honda Classic, Rickie Fowler and Brooks Koepka will tee it up. Also, we will see Rory, Phil, Fleetwood, Justin Rose, Jimm Walker and a bunch more..

Very shocked we haven’t seen JT in either the Honda last week or Bay Hill this week. Last year, we saw him in both. He did bang up his wrist in Mexico but he is 100% healthy.

Winning Score: It’s usually around -12 to -16 under at this tournament. It’s not an overly challenging golf course, however, it is a tough test. I’m going to say -13 wins it.

Winner: Dechambeau or Rory. Both will eat this golf course up. Rory can simply overpower it. Bryson has probably been doing science fair projects all week in order to find a way to make a ton of birdies around pay hill.
