Since May we have known that the PGA Tour is teaming up with Steph Curry to host a PGA Tour event in 2019. The question is, where will the event be held? Originally, Corica Park in Alameda California was thought of as the hosting site, but new reports say that might not be true. Ron Kroichick of the Chronicle writes that tour officials became concerned that renovations to Corica Park would not be ready in time. This opened up a chance for Lake Merced, which has held many LPGA tour events in the past to make their case to host the tournament. The pitch included a proposal to make more than $3.6 million in course upgrades which was overwhelmingly approved by the members. The notable course upgrades include an expanded driving range and several new back tees that will extend the length of the course to approximately 7,300 yards. Steph who has played in web.com tour events will not be in the field but will serve as the face of the tournament. The rumors are the tournament will be held next fall after the Safeway.
